Melbourne is the state capital and largest city in the Australian state of Victoria, and the second-largest city in Australia, with a population of approximately 3.7 million[1] (2006 estimate). The Crown Casino entertainment complex can also be found in the Southbank precinct. North of the Central Business District is home to the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens, the University precinct, Royal Melbourne Zoo, and Melbourne General Cemetery.
